Hatchet 3 (2013) movie review (Decker Shado)

Wiki Article

Hatchet 3 is Hatchet's horror film from 2013. It chronicles Victor Crowley's continuing adventures as well as his escapade across Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp. Kane Hodder plays Victor Crowley, Brian Quinn portrays Deputy Winslow, Rileah vanderbilt portrays Misty.

The film's special effects are its greatest strength. In contrast to many contemporary horror films which rely heavily on CG effects, Hatchet 3 features mostly practical makeup effect and sets--resulting in some truly terrifying scenes throughout the movie.

Kane Hodder is a standout among the cast and is a formidable villain. The dialogue is funny and clever enough to make it seem like an 80s slasher film. Additionally, there are several hilarious moments throughout that offer humor against the horror-inducing action.

However, due to the limited budget (reportedly only $1 million) most locations used are repeats from earlier films in the series--the identical boat house was featured twice in the film and a lot of the film feels (blog post) like it's been recycled from previous films in the franchise. This can make it feel almost too familiar for those who have watched Hatchet or Hatchet 2

Overall, Hatchet 3 was enjoyable although it was like the previous entries within the series. It provided lots of gory thrills as well as some entertaining performances from its actors.
